Career Exploration Pathways: STEM

What is expected?

STEM Pathway (multi)

The STEM Pathway consists of five (5) focus areas which address aspects of the content areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.  The majority of careers in STEM fields require additional study and credentialing beyond the high school diploma. STEM fields are often closely related and require students to demonstrate knowledge and skills from more than one focus area, so students in all STEM Pathways at JSRHS are required to complete a series of courses that build that cross-competency.

There are five STEM focus area Pathways:

  • Environmental Science: This Pathway includes such areas as nature, ecosystems and interrelationships, the environment and the challenges that result from human interaction, resources, their consumption, and global competition and change.
  • Healthcare & Medical Professions (Health Science):  This Pathway focuses on the foundation needed for the advanced studies and credentialing required by careers in the healthcare industry.  Engineering, pre-Engineering, & engineering Technologies: This Pathway focuses on design products and systems, problem-solving, and the application of scientific, mathematic, and engineering-related content and principles.
  • Life Sciences: This Pathway focuses on the study of life and organisms including such areas as plant and animal biology. chemistry, and ecology.  Students will gain the foundational and practical lab-based skills and knowledge needed for advanced studies and research in the field.
  • STEM Exploration: This Pathway focuses on a broad exploration of STEM-related content areas and their applicability, preparing students to enter their field of choice.

Please select one of the five STEM focus area Pathways:

  • Environmental Science
  • Healthcare & Medical Professions (Health Science)
  • Engineering, pre-Engineering, & Engineering Technologies
  • Life Sciences
  • STEM Exploration
